How To End Corruption in Nigeria.

I have been away for a while now. I have been very busy contributing my quota to knowledge development and education somewhere. I haven't really resumed writing here yet. I just stopped by to congratulate Nigerians on the recent inauguration of the federal executive council by Mr. President, His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari.  We have waited patiently for this moment. Now that we have known what we had been wanting to know, it's definitely a thing of joy. But most important is the fact that I would like to offer Mr. President a piece of advice. Dear Mr. President, let me affirm my staunchest belief in your capacity to rescue this nation from the precipice in which it currently finds herself. I know you can because you have the strongest political will to do it.  Inspired by this confidence, I would like to suggest that you continue the fight against corruption with renewed vigour. Fear no foe; spare no friend. Even if, at the end of the day, the only achievement of your...

APC's Change May Not Outlive GMB Unless..

APC's POSITIVE CHANGE MAY NOT OUTLIVE GENERAL BUHARI UNLESS... by  Ogiri John Ogiri. Call me a PDP member and you are wrong. Call me a highly conservative individual allergic to change and you are still not correct. This is because I hardly represent either of the appellations above. I am a very neutral, non partisan person (at least I lay no claim to the membership of any political party in this country, even though I am very enlightened politically). Besides, I love Change. I need it and there is no better time for a positive Change than now. It is not funny having no decent job several years after graduating from school. Several years after leaving school,  so many ordinary Nigerian graduates still roam the street in search of non-existent jobs. The situation is even worsened where one discovers that job vacancies in government Ministries and Departments are for sale and only the highest bidders get such jobs. What about adequate housing for the common man and woman? Only...

WHAT CAUSES TROUBLE AND YOU CAN STAY OUT OF IT.

HOW TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE WITH PEOPLE BY OGIRI JOHN OGIRI When was the last time you had trouble with people? What was the cause of the trouble? What effect did it generate? How did you quench the flame generated thereof? How prepared are you to extinguish the embers of trouble in future? The questions above deserve answers. It is a reality that the business of trouble is trouble and that the greatest benefit of trouble is more trouble! Indeed, trouble is troubling. It is a cancer that, if left to grow, eats deep into the fabric of people’s life. But why do people get enmeshed in trouble? How do they get into trouble with people? Perhaps, a stream of responses to these questions is already flowing in your mind. Well, you know them better than I do. Your guess is as good as mine. Ask a philosopher, psychologist or sociologist and you are sure to be bombarded with a plethora of reasons that cause troubles for people. I have examined all these reasons, but th...

Is tithing biblical?

Tithes and Tithing.

I didn't study Theology. I didn't study Religion. Professionally, I belong to Education and Tourism. Consequently, I'm not qualified to speak on Tithes and Tithing. But as a diligent student in constant pursuit of knowledge, I am always in search of truth wherever it can be found by posing relevant questions to those whom it may concern in order to get the right answers. It's on this note that I decided to dedicate my time in this short write up to pose questions and seek clarifications on the highly controversial subject of Tithes and Tithing.  Before I embark on this venture, permit me to acknowledge the fact that, more than any issue in Christendom, tithes and tithing remains the most controversial, misunderstood and, unfortunately the most highly manipulated by the congregation and men of God in modern. So many Christian believers pay tithes, not because they see it as act of faith to be willingly performed since "God loves a cheerful giver" but they do so...

FASTING

Meaning of Fasting by Ogiri John Ogiri. What is fasting? Every day, every week, some visit prayer houses and they're told to fast-21 days, 7days and so on. Even as I write, some are yet to descend from the mountains where they had gone to pray and fast. These are not bad but the question is 'do they understand what fasting actually entails? Fasting is one of the most commonly observed spiritual exercises in the world today. However, it is interestingly one of the most misunderstood spiritual exercises. When I checked the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the following definitions popped forward " to abstain from food, to eat sparingly or abstain from some food". In this sense, if one can stay without food or eat sparingly for some time, even if such person remains corrupt, and sinful in thoughts, words and actions, one is sure of being called a committed, serious christian. Indeed, that's the physical meaning of fasting. In order to understand the spiritual meaning of f...

HND/BSc DICHOTOMY

DISCRIMINATIONS AGAINST HND HOLDERS IN NIGERIA: A THREAT TO POLYTECHNIC EDUCATION AND THE FUTURE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN NIGERIA. Some years, months, weeks, days and hours ago  when you graduated from the polytechnics  or monotechnics, with a Higher National Diploma in your chosen field (or the course you were given against your initial choice ) you probably beat your chest, threw your legs up into high heaven and swathed the air as having made an achievement of a life time. And from that moment onward, you started referring to yourself as a graduate. Your excitement was heightened the more when you were mobilized for the national service under the National Youth Service Corp scheme (NYSC)- after all, only graduates are qualified for such exercise. However, after all the hypes and the euphoria of graduation from the Monotechnics/ Polytechnics as well as the successful completion of the national service is over, and you were ushered into the labour market, what did you face...
